Ani can invoke so many different moods. I think the real crime is that she has a totally unique and very hardcore guitar style, but you'll never see her trotted out among all of these other virtuosos who are more often than not dudes. Ani has, in the same space of time, released twice as much music as Madonna and had to work harder promoting it. She's a real afterthought in the industry which is unfortunate but I guess she doesn't play their games.
In any case this track is a wonderful fusion of her unique brand of folk with jazz-rap and my god it is just unmatched. De La Soul came out with a lot of cool jazz rap stuff and definitely hit the hippie vibe nicely. But this one of those tracks like Planet Caravan where there just isn't another song or album that quite hits the same groove. It is entirely singular and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
